Joshua provided the opening keynote at the South African Institute of Landscape Architecture (ILASA) bi-annual conference in the spectacular World Heritage listed Drakensburg mountain park region on 13th August, 2018. The conference was themed ‘Landscape: Medium for Connectivity’. Joshua presented research distilling 750 projects through a proposed framework of ‘multidimensional sustainability’. His findings indicate that it is collectively rather than individually that the discipline is realising a multidimensional approach to sustainability in-design, as demonstrated in the 265 projects in his 2017 book. Josh argued that accordingly, landscape architects need to intentionally pursue a broader remit of sustainability strategies.
A big thanks to ILASA and the conference sponsors.
